schools1 Sarah and Mark, co-artistic directors and founders of the company have extensive experience in leading, devising and providing inspiring arts, education and performance projects for children and young people, for the company and as individual creative practitioners.

Highly Sprung is currently recognised as being one of Coventry’s leading arts and education providers.

Experience includes:

Working in schools, colleges and universities across the region and residencies further afield
Creating unique projects, participatory workshops and exploring new ways to access learning
Making performance with for and alongside children and young people
Working to develop creativity and aspiration in children and young people
Discovering everyone’s ability to achieve

All artists contracted to deliver company projects are CRB checked and have high standards of professional practice, relevant experience and supporting training/qualifications.

Workshops

Each workshop is unique and looks at new ideas and opportunities for a variety of children and young people all with different backgrounds, covering a range of topics and styles.

Residencies

Residencies are intense, exciting and often inspirational experiences for young people. Residencies offer participants the opportunity to spend a specific period of time involved in an arts activity. Often residencies culminate in a presentation of either performance material or the skills learnt through the residency.

Commissions

Highly Sprung have undertaken a variety of commissions in its history and have delivered this work through a range of mediums. Commissions have tended to centre on social issues, teenage pregnancy, hate crime, issues surrounding motivation and achievement. The company are usually approached by an outside agency to undertake a commission; recent commissions have come from Coventry PCT, Dol-y-Moch Outdoor Education Centre and West Midlands Police.

Performance Projects

Highly Sprung have developed a particular skill in making performance with young people. Be it in assisting in the devising of a piece inspired and directed by the young people or performance which sees the collaboration of both professional and young performers together. The result is always both positive and inspirational providing the participants with the ability to create innovative and challenging work that still engages and excites audiences.

Creative Curriculum Projects

It is our experience that an opportunity to develop strategies, activities and projects which allow students to actively experience and engage in the curriculum subjects leads to more effective learning remembering and most importantly understanding.
