Physical Fellowship

The Physical Fellowship

The UK’s only physical performance festival exclusively for young people.

Highly Sprung’s Physical Fellowship was established over ten years ago to give young people the opportunity to explore their understanding and experience of physical theatre.

To this day, it remains a unique and exciting opportunity for 11 to 24-year-olds to immerse themselves completely in physical theatre practice, working with renowned professional artists to make and present original work.

MON 28th JUNE – THU 1st JULY

Belgrade Theatre, Coventry

A youth-led festival of environmentally themed performance.

Showcasing performances from young people across Coventry. Using physical theatre to respond to themes exploring the climate crisis.

The Changing Climates Festival, produced by the newly established Coventry Young Producers Collective, provides a platform for 400 young people aged 11-19 to undergo professional standard training in performance making and engages them in environmental activism where theatre is used as a creative response to local and global environmental problems.

Featuring a Sprung headline show  Winter Rites, from our experienced cohort of young performers Sprung Advance.

Tickets now available from the Belgrade Theatre website here.

Highly Sprung artists hold two whole-day workshops with participating schools and youth groups to teach physical theatre skills. Students are inspired to use physical techniques to then create their own piece of original physical theatre.

Students then attend a day of workshops, seminars and masterclasses delivered by visiting professional companies, including Frantic Assembly and Complicité. Here they further develop and explore new skills with leading professionals.

Students are then given a professional platform to present their work in a festival showcase, supported by a headline performance from Highly Sprung’s own youth theatre company, Sprungsters.
“A wonderful combination of fun and hard work and a great opportunity to take part in an intensive devising process.”
