The Physical Fellowship is the UK's only physical performance festival exclusively for young people.
Produced by Highly Sprung and established in 2009 as a performance platform for young people aged 12-21. The Physical Fellowship promotes the sharing of original choreographed and devised performance in all forms of physical theatre and enables young performers to benefit from professional dance and physical theatre performance and experiences.
The Physical Fellowship provides young performers from youth groups and partner schools with a professional platform for presenting work devised specifically for the festival and places an emphasis upon the development of skills, as well as nurturing an understanding and appreciation of physical performance, through work with established professional performance companies, through workshops and masterclasses.
"A wonderful combination of fun and hard work and a great opportunity to take part in an intensive devising process." Teacher

"Really wonderful to see young people in a positive light, having a space to play, be creative and a platform to say something"
All participants who perform as part of the Physical Fellowship attend workshops, seminars and master classes, delivered by visiting professional companies.
Visiting artists and companies have included Frantic Assembly, Gecko Theatre, Vamos Theatre, Infuse Dance, Complicite and Theatre Absolute.
The workshop/seminar day provides participants with the opportunity to develop and explore new skills through work with leading professionals, which builds on the work already undertaken with Highly Sprung artists.
Highly Sprung provides two daylong workshops with each participating school and youth group as an opportunity for the groups to develop skills to initiate their devising process or to offer input to create performance work.
The workshops inspire students to use physical performance to create their own piece of original devised physical performance which is presented as part of the festival at the host venue.
The in-school workshops use a fusion of high energy approaches to performance making and devising, working through game, ensemble and original narrative.

The evening youth performance platform is supported by a headline performance by Highly Sprung's youth group that showcases the potential of professional physical performance that is inspiring and engaging.

The Physical Fellowship 2020
Bookings are now open for Schools partners for the Physical Fellowship 2020 - Monday 29 June - Thursday 2 July 2020
The week-long festival will showcase over 12 different performances all supporting young people to explore the very challenging issues surrounding extinction. Using performance to begin to understand and respond to themes of environmentalism and extinction in its widest form, considering questions regarding disappearance and loss in our society. What are the things we are starting to miss and what will life be like without them- clean air, fresh water, unlimited food and resources, even our ability to communicate with each-other.
The Physical Fellowship once again challenges young performers to engage in an intensive devising process with Highly Sprung artists to create a 20minute piece of thought provoking and inspiring physical performance to showcase their talents.
