Want to Volunteer for Highly Sprung?

December 5, 2018

Highly Sprung Performance Company are looking to expand their pool of Chaperones – can you volunteer your time?

Where a young person aged 16 or under is performing in a public performance, and are not with their parent, schoolteacher or home tutor, they must be supervised by a chaperone approved by the council.

Our Thursday and Friday Sprungsters have a number of performance opportunities each term, and we need to provide chaperones for our under 16s at a ratio of 1 chaperone to 12 young people for each performance and onsite rehearsal.

In 2018 we had 5 events that required Chaperoning, needing 13 chaperones in total. Our chaperones are invaluable as they enable our under 16s to take part in these events, like PALs at Coventry Cathedral, The Physical Fellowship at the Belgrade Theatre & the Oxford Christmas Light Switch On!

Becoming a chaperone:

  • Apply to the Council where you are resident (e.g. if you live in Coventry, you would apply to Coventry Council)

  • Complete a volunteer chaperone application form, with references. There may be a fee – Highly Sprung can reimburse this cost, unless you would like to donate it

  • Complete a DBS check

  • Have an interview with the Council Child Licensing Team

  • Receive your Chaperone License & join our pool!

  • Chaperone at a Highly Sprung event (and get a front row view of the performances!)

We send out emails to our chaperone pool for each event, requesting support – all that we ask is that you are able to chaperone at least once each year! We already know that we need 2-3 chaperones for each of the 4 days of the Physical Fellowship 2019 [24 – 27 June].

Interested? Come along to our Chaperone event on 24 January 2019, 5.30pm – 6.30pm to find out more & meet our existing chaperones!
